Troubleshooting General Communication Issues

Common Causes (from most common to least):

  • The sensor has been damaged or removed from the machine.

  • A local gateway has gone down

  • The nearest gateway is located too far from the sensor(s).

  • The wireless signal between sensor and gateway has been interrupted (for instance, a door that is normally open between the sensor and gateway has been closed).

  • The sensor battery is dead.

  • The sensor has failed from some unknown reason.


Recommended actions:

  • Check that the sensor is still installed on the machine and has no visible damage.

  • Check status of local gateways (see Troubleshooting Gateway Communications).

  • Move a gateway close to the sensor to see if communication is restored.

  • Alternatively, remove the sensor from the machine and place it close to an active gateway.

  • If moving the gateway or sensor restored communications, a gateway will need to be placed closer to the sensor.
